Yes. LcL offers <a href="https://lcl-institut.at/en/language-exam-training-german-englisch-other-all-levels-at-lcl-institute-vienna-1070">exam preparation</a> courses for German (ÖIF, ÖSD, EPD, Goethe or telc,), English (Cambridge, TOEFL, IELTS, GMAT, SAT, GRE or TOEIC) and other languages. We can also prepare you for your exams in <a href="https://lcl-institut.at/en/private-language-classes-with-exam-preparation-in-german-and-foreign-languages-at-lcl-institute-with-lab-vienna">private lessons</a>.

Of course. In addition to the face-to-face lessons we offer at the LcL Institute, we also offer online lessons.

Every course has a price. However, you may be eligible for financial support. Contact the ÖIF, AMS, WAFF or other groups that might pay from 10% to 100% of your course cost. Read more about this in the section on financial aid, visa and authorities.

We can organize courses on the weekend for people who don’t have time on weekdays. However, we can only do this if enough participants are interested in a weekend course. <a href="https://lcl-institut.at/en/lcl-institut-vienna-language-school-contact-us">Please let us know</a>.

The length of each course depends on course type. Intensive courses span several days and hours, whereas group courses to improve specific skills (e.g., spelling) take less time. University preparation courses are organized according to the university semester schedule. Courses for specific purposes are given as many units as necessary to reach the course goal. Language courses teach everyday language content, such as understanding and speaking a language at a certain level (e.g., A1, A2, etc.). In contrast, language courses for specific purposes include language content for communication in particular fields, such as medicine, finance or literature. A prerequisite to participating in these courses is a higher language level, starting from B2 or even C1, depending on the field. Take a look at the seminars and workshops we offer.

Courses for specific purposes deal with communication using language for a specialized field, such as nursing care or office communication. Depending on your chosen field, you need a language level of at least B2 or C1 to keep up with the course. On the LcL website we regularly offer courses for specific purposes for different fields. Please take a look at our course descriptions where you can also find the prerequisites for each language course.

Yes, but only to a limited extent. You can sign up to learn your language of choice (e.g., French, Spanish, Russian, Italian, etc.) in a <a href="https://lcl-institut.at/en/private-language-classes-with-exam-preparation-in-german-and-foreign-languages-at-lcl-institute-with-lab-vienna">private course</a>. LcL will then review your registration and let you know if there’s an instructor who can teach this language.

A course allows you to reach a certain language level (e.g., German A2). You practice reading, listening, speaking, and writing in your target language. A <a href="https://lcl-institut.at/en/language-workshops-lcl-institute-lab-vienna">workshop</a> provides additional language teaching for different skills, such as communication techniques or creative writing. To participate in a workshop, you must already have reached a certain language level, starting from levels B2/C1.

Yes. We offer language workshops (e.g., writing courses or German for medicine and care professions) and courses for specific professions (e.g., economics courses, seminars for presentation techniques, and more).

To be able to follow along with the contents of a course for a specific language level (e.g., B1), you must have reached the preceding language level (e.g., A2). If you’d like to participate in a course, but you’re not sure which course is right for you, <a href="https://lcl-institut.at/en/lcl-institut-vienna-language-school-contact-us">contact</a> LcL. The LcL team will advise you and find a suitable course for you.

In an intensive course you practice your target language daily to quickly reach your desired level (e.g., A1, B1, or to prepare for an exam). A semi-intensive course reduces the learning intensity by half. Group course units can vary in number and frequency. For example, if you’d like to practice grammar regularly, you could meet twice weekly for two hours.

The LcL Institute mainly offers <a href="https://lcl-institut.at/en/german-english-language-courses-language-lab-lcl-language-school-vienna">group courses,</a> and <a href="https://lcl-institut.at/en/private-language-classes-with-exam-preparation-in-german-and-foreign-languages-at-lcl-institute-with-lab-vienna">private lessons</a> in German, English, Latin, and Austrian Sign Language. Additionally, we offer grammar and spelling courses, private or <a href="https://lcl-institut.at/en/business-language-courses-lcl-institut-lab-vienna">company courses</a> in any language you’d like, and <a href="https://lcl-institut.at/en/language-exam-training-german-englisch-other-all-levels-at-lcl-institute-vienna-1070">exam training</a>. You can also sign up for our language-specific <a href="https://lcl-institut.at/en/language-workshops-lcl-institute-lab-vienna">workshops</a>, speech training, and writing seminars for all ages. All courses, workshops, trainings, and seminars can be organized online or face-to-face.

Everyone who’s interested in learning a language can participate in a course. Minors who’d like to register and book a course must be accompanied by a legal guardian over 18 who’s also registered for the course.
